Introduction
RCA stands for Root Cause Analysis. It is a widely used term in SCOT by both you (as part of Metro team) and your Suppliers for identifying the root causes behind the Failed Order Lines (FOLs).
RCA is divided into three categories: RCA1, RCA2 and RCA3.
RCA1 (Pre-Validate the Root Cause) is automatically assigned by system to FOLs when the system identifies the Failed Order Lines (FOLs) on certain pre-defined criteria/rules which indicate reason for fault lies on Metro side.
However, FOLs are visible to Suppliers and they can comment their RCA2. But final decision to accept the RCA2 for the FOLs belongs to you. You can reject supplier's RCA2 and RCA1 prevails as final decision or you can accept RCA2 when it is same as RCA3.
The below Root Causes (RCs) can be automatically assigned as RCA1 by the system:
21 | Order below agreed MOQ |
22 | Order does not respect lead time |
23 | Order does not respect agreed order and delivery schedule |
24 | Order does not respect Supplier Holiday |
25 | Order does not respect Bank Holiday |
RCA2 (Qualify the Root Cause) - The Supplier has the opportunity to enter the reason from their point of view for the FOLs, whether according to them the fault is on their side or on Metro's side for the given FOLs.
Below is the list of reasons/causes for the FOLs that Suppliers can choose from and submit it for verification. The final decision will be, of course, yours.
RCA 3 (Validate the Root Cause Analysis) - You as part of Metro team look at the root causes RCA1 assigned by system and RCA2 assigned by Suppliers in order to do the final validation. If the root cause found is correct, you approve those RCAs for the given FOLs. However, if root causes don't match your information, you overwrite these existing RCAs with the one of your own. You have the final verdict and this is RCA3.
Additionally, if Supplier hasn't submitted any RCA2, then you can enter RCA3 as your final decision on FOLs and close the FOLs in the system. You can choose any RC from the above list of root causes.
